To further improve cost efficiency the company carried out a considerable restructuring as from 18th June 2005 within the MAL group: it independently obtained mining rights and will take over deep working bauxite production from Bakonyi Bauxitbánya Kft., which is in its majority ownership. It has purchased the deep working mine at Halimba-Southwest and leases the one at Bakonyoszlop I. Within the MAL group the annual tasks of bauxite production and recultivation are fulfilled all in all, and the privatisation obligations undertaken earlier are not violated either.
Within the company a new branch has been established through reorganisation, which also co-ordinates foreign bauxite purchases in addition to the direction of domestic bauxite production, thus satisfying the basic material demand of alumina production. In connection with reorganisation Dr. János Fazekas has been elected as the managing director of the still operating Bakonyi Bauxitbánya Kft., and Árpád Kovacsics has become the deputy general director for bauxite mining of MAL Rt.
